Hangovers & Holidays

I just woke up from a nap feeling a bit nauseated. I hope I am not getting sick, thankfully it is already starting to go away. But it is a reminder of all the days I used to wake up dry mouthed, nauseated, jittery, anxious, head-aching, and guilt-ridden in the morning. I can’t believe that I used to inflict that upon myself! What a horrible and non-productive way to start my day. Drinking myself into a state of hangover seems absolutely cruel and self-destructive in retrospect.

I want to keep the consequences of the illness of drinking fresh in my mind. I need my sobriety to be strong so that I can enjoy my first tropical vacation sober in the next month. It will be at an all-inclusive resort and I want to be able to focus on the peace of being away from school, the ocean, the feeling of luxury, the delicious food, the entertainment, and the enjoyment of present company rather than the pain I will experience if I relapse at this point in my journey. Just wanted to let out these thoughts, glad SR is here.

Hey I'm right there with you! We are going to a tropical all inclusive resort next month also. I am more nervous than excited to be honest.
