Throwing up bile.

So I am new here. I'm still drinking and for the last week I've woken up in the morning, coughing a little which turns into gagging and eventually throwing up. Sorry for the detail, but It's pretty much some white foamy stuff followed by a fair amount of yellow liquid which I'm assuming is bile. Has anyone else experienced this? I have a feeling it's alcohol related. Just wanted to know if people have experienced something similar.

I don't know how much you've been drinking, but I'd ask a doctor about it, especially if it's been every morning for a week.

Throwing up anything you didn't eat or drink in the first place is not good. See a doctor ASAP.

Anna 02-10-2014 06:43 PM

Yeah, please do talk to your dr.

I think most of us have experienced that - if you retch and there's nothing in your stomach food wise you'll throw up bile...but there could be other reasons too - none of us are doctors tho so we can't really suggest if it's serious or not.

If you're having trouble stopping drinking, I think a visit to the Dr is a good idea anyway.

I've had a stomach bug and done that. If it's been happening for a week, for sure it's time to see the doc.

Brian316 02-10-2014 08:38 PM

I've experienced it when I was living off of beer and not eating. I would consider quitting drinking my friend. The symptoms you described are not normal.

alphaomega 02-10-2014 08:43 PM

I experience vomiting bile. Many many times. I would wretch and wretch and the bile would become more and more bitter. I can still taste it if I think about it.

Please, please go to the doctor. That is absolutely nothing to mess around with.

Here's a bit of my story...

You throw up bile when there's nothing in your stomach to vomit. But what concerns me is A. It's happening every morning and B. There's "white foamy stuff". What's this white foamy stuff? You need to find out by going to see a doctor as soon as possible.

lisatrying 02-11-2014 04:39 AM

I had the same thing but it was green. Stopping drinking made it go away. Good luck

FreeOwl 02-11-2014 04:44 AM

yeah.... went through more 'throwing up bile' and 'dry heaving my guts out' and 'wanting to die' sessions than I can remember.

It's A LOT BETTER waking up in the morning and having a raw green smoothie and feeling fresh and alive.

A LOT BETTER.

:)

You won't throw up bile when you're sober. I promise.

Thank you. I'll have a look alphaomega.

When I was at my most physically addicted, I got the dry heaves and/or would throw up bile when I was withdrawing in the morning. The only thing that would stop it was a morning drink....which was an awful way to start the day...and got me even more physically addicted.

MsJax 02-11-2014 05:50 AM

Like freethinking, I did this almost every day until I had my AM drink. So gross.

It is no way to live. You won't do it anymore if you get help, help yourself, & quit.

Skye2 02-11-2014 05:56 AM

A couple of years ago, I went to the Doctor after vomiting green and yellow bile - he told me I'd ripped my stomach lining.

ConfessionBear 02-11-2014 05:57 AM

Yup. Happened to me maybe 2 times a week for the last few months before I finally quit. Not familiar with your particular drinking habits, and not a doctor, so can't say this is alcohol related.
But for me I had no doubt.
And like Alphaomega said above, if I think abotu it I can still taste it. :yuck:
The toothbrush was my worst enemy.
