Hello

Hi everyone, name's John and I just stumbled across this site at four thirty in the morning while sweating out my latest run on H. I keep getting clean then use for a few days and feel like death for a week or two after. I'm not sure why I keep doing it to myself. The high isn't even fun or pleasurable anymore and I know all too well the physical hell I'm going to go thru afterward, yet I keep doing it. Anyway, I've been clean like 30 hrs this time and I'm really want to stay that way so maybe just maybe this time I can figure out a way to make it stick. Anyway greetings and nice to be here.

Welcome to SR John. Congratulations on 30 hours clean, that's almost a day and a half, it'll very soon be two days. You'll find lots of support here at SR -- check out the February 2014 class here.

Hi John- Welcome. If you keep reading and posting you will find the support on this site. A really nice group of people. while I just joined this past Oct, I have been sober for more than 5 years. You've got 30 hours in, that's great. Keep coming back, I would have never believed it either but for some reason, after the hundreds of attempts, one day...it just sticks! It really does.

On on off topic note- in June my son accepted a short term work assignment in your "neck of the woods". He is living in Farragut. (I'm not too familiar with TN local but that is close to you isn't it?) He loves it "down there", in fact when they asked for volunteers to stay an extra 6 months he jumped at the chance.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the support. And yes Leana, Farragut is a suburb of Knoxville. It's very close to where I live, just a few miles away. What does your son do just out of curiousity?

Wow that's a cool job title. I'm surprised he doesn't work in Oak Ridge, it's just a few miles away and they are one of the largest nuclear facilities in the world. It's where they built the atomic bombs during WW2. Anyway, I'm glad he likes it down here. I see you're from PA, I just left New York about a month ago after spending the last year there. I enjoyed most everything about being up north except the winter. Some days 20 and 30 degress below zero with the wind chill...that's just insane to this southern boy!

You've come to a very friendly and supportive site. Read around and post your questions. We also have a substance abuse forum here. Might find more insight there too.

Glad you joined us.
