Add me to the yoga loving SR peeps. I started last June. It helps me relax and focus, in addition to the physical benefits.

I definitely believe Yoga helps with recovery.

Actually, I think Yoga helps with every aspect of life. I often talk about balance being so important in my recovery and Yoga always helps me to slow down and focus on myself. The thing with the 'spiritual' aspect of Yoga is that it keeps my mind on what's happening with my body. I'm not thinking about yesterday or tomorrow, but just me in the moment.

Kate, I have fibromyalgia too and have no problems with doing Yoga. Check with your dr and see if it's okay for you.

Yoga means "yoke". That is yoke as in join together.
What are you joining together? Your mind and body.

That's what it's all about. There are four different kinds of yoga.

The stretching kind of yoga is Hatha Yoga.

But it's all about achieving a balance. When I do yoga it's really like a meditation.

Good stuff.

Me too! Yoga is vital to my recovery. This thread has made me notice I haven't been in about a week...for me this is a huge sign of relapse. Sounds crazy, I know, but Every Time I've relapsed I've fallen off my yoga/reiki/mediation routine. So I will go, well, NOW lol. Anyhow yoga has helped me so much. I've practiced high, withdrawing, clean and each and everytime I feel better afterwards and love myself a little more. Highly recommend yoga for recovery!
