I am going to do an inpatient detox

Haven't posted in awhile. Just researched detox programs, and will begin on Friday. Wish I could go sooner, but must secure child care and the like.

Once clean, I am never going back.

I've missed you guys. Should have spent more time here.

Thank you Dee. I was hoping to hear from you.

As always, it seems no one realizes how bad it has gotten. I just received a great performance review for 2013, and now considering how to tell my VP that I am going to take 30 days of from work. After detox, I might reconsider, but not ruling anything out at this point.

I want to come back strong and healthy.

sounds like you're in a blessed space... positive performance review from your VP must mean you have a solid career going.

Which must mean - as bad as it's gotten, you are fortunate not to have "lost it all"

good on ya for taking this step to change your life for the better while you still have blessings going for you!

just tell them you need to take a 'short term leave' for 'personal reasons'.

good luck!

good for you. i did inpatient detox followed by inpatient treatment. called my supervisor one sunday and said i needed to do it. didnt really impact work at that point as i had already taken lateral transfer to lower "status" position because of drinking which prior supervisors not aware of or only vaguely aware of. if you do have concerns do you have an employee assistance program to discuss them with before talking to VP? if not i still think for me it was worth it. i still have my job and i don't drink. would rather have lower status job and be sober. good luck!

Thank you all. I just completed the intake over the phone, and will be admitted at 4 pm. Thank goodness I have great insurance, a loving husband, and support. Also thankful they had a bed. Apparently I got the last one.

As you all know, alcoholism is so very painful. I am not scared about entering into inpatient. I am relieved and thankful.

I won't have internet access on the unit. I will check in when I am home.

Thanks to all of you, my buddies over the last three years.

I appreciate your post. I have told my VP that I have a medical emergency. Left it at that. I have a great primary care physician, and will enter into counseling and bereavement therapy (long overdue) when I am released.

Awesome choice. Just think, after 30 days when you return to work YOU will return to work. The real you. You will blow the socks off your VP when they see your performance completely uninhibited by alcohol.

Hello Change - I missed you too. Remember you well & all that you went through.

I'm very happy you've made this big decision. I'm glad you are feeling relieved. You should be - you're about to set yourself free. We'll be here when you get back.
