Four Letter Words


Maybe it is time to use more four letter words at meetings to get the
newcomers attention. What words came to mind when you read the above? Maybe
you should not say.

Following is a copy of a letter from our Grapevine magazine, date
unknown:

When I came to A.A. I was ready and willing to try anything. You gave
me a bundle of F.O.U.R. letter words.

I made a determined jump into A.A.;

You told me to W.A.L.K.

I was fearful;

You gave me H.O.P.E.

I was torn with bitterness, hostility and self-hatred;

You taught me to L.O.V.E.

I made a list of my wants;

You helped me understand what I N.E.E.D.

I wanted to get the program right away;

You taught me to begin with the first S.T.E.P.

I was in race to prove my worth;

You showed me how to live at a even P.A.C.E

I wanted to know what was ahead;

You said, better things in T.I.M.E.

I cried to you for HELP;

You told me God answers if you P.R.A.Y.

And now when I wonder when I'll know;

I'll know if I W.A.I.T.
