Out with the old!
Out with the old!
It's Rabbie Burns Night tonight. This is one of the many occasions I would have only too willingly used as an excuse to consume copious quantities of whisky. Not tonight though. The smell of haggis makes me sick and I don't hang out with the partying type anymore. So it'll just be me, my beautiful little cat and a can of Irn Bru (a non-alcoholic Scottish drink). Hail Rabbie! But I no longer need whisky to celebrate!
I found it tough over Xmas/New Years with cravings for whisky, I used to be big on both Irish and Scotch brands!!
But I guess times had to change, and hangover free mornings are amazing!!
Only tried Haggis the once, it's quite the acquired taste!!
Great job on staying Sober!!

Here's a bit of the tradition emmise speaks of:
A Bottle and a Friend
[a song by Robert (Rabbie) Burns]
There's nane that's blest of human kind,
But the cheerful and the gay, man,
Fal, la, la,. . .
Here's a bottle and an honest friend!
What wad ye wish for mair, man?
Wha kens, before his life may end,
What his share may be o' care, man?
Then catch the moments as they fly,
And use them as ye ought, man:
Believe me, happiness is shy

Haha, that's the very man, Hawkeye! I think Mr Burns may have had a fondness for the bottle too. Thanks everyone for your responses. And yes - waking up tomorrow clear-headed and with energy will be awesome! Hope you all enjoy your weekends. Stay safe. :-)
