Trying again
Hello,
I am back and looking forward to recovery, although I know that it will not be easy. I am at the point where I am missing work, losing jobs, spending stupid amounts of money on booze. I am just done with it all. I feel like I will wind up in the gutter or dead if I don't change this behaviour now. So sick of it.
I am looking for some support, encouragement, and people to cheer me on. I will gladly do the same for others.
Not sure what else to say.. I am desperate to change.
Thanks

Sounds like alcohol is getting the best of you. I've been there. Lost jobs, possesions and would have been homeless if not for the kindness of friends.
If you're really ready, put as much effort into recovering from alcohol as you do now imbibing alcohol.
You can do it. I was a seemingly hopeless drunk. I have three years sober now. I got here by remembering the horrors alcohol wrought on my life. One drink and I'm off on a bender. Then, the misery, anxiety and remorse. I lived that way for a long time.
You can recover. Read and post here, go to AA or another method.Anything to stay sober.
Best to you.

You can do it! Just need to start trying to quit, and if you fall off the wagon don't let it discourage you from keeping on trying to quit, just make sure you learn from it so you aren't making the same mistake over and over.

Thanks all.
As for a plan... I am not big on meetings and whatnot. I am currently in an intensive therapy program (DBT) and see my therapist one a week.. she is also available for phone coaching during office hours.
We have devised a plan that I call anytime I have an urge to drink or engage in self-destructive behaviors. I am learning skills to help cope with all different kinds of issues.
SO, my best plan is to actively commit and engage and use all the skills and services provided to me. I think the problem lately has been motivation and giving into the urges very easily. I also have this forum as a means to receiving support and encouragement.
Thanks again
