Day 3 Sober... New Here Hi I just found this forum and am glad to find something online I can be a part of. I have been drinking heavily for about 4 years mostly whisky and vodka. Nobody at work/home/friends are aware of my problem. I hear them make negative comments about people being alcoholics and have chose to keep it to myself. This is my first time publicly addressing my issue and am looking forward to quitting. I am through half of day 3 and feel OK. Having trouble sleeping at night but at least I feel OK waking up. What section is the best to post questions surrounding how my body is reacting and advice for moving forward? Thanks |
Welcome indeed, mrnigelt  You've made huge strides forward by admitting you have a problem and by reaching out for help :c011: You've also come to a great place full of warmth, wisdom and support. It's fine for you to post any questions here in the Newcomers section. You will also find support and companionship in the Class of January 14 thread, which is also in this section. There you'll find people who have given up drinking this month  |
Welcome, mrnigelt...I can't see why You can't just post Here...Insomnia is VERY Common in Early Sobriety - I'm sure MOST of Us can Relate... |
Welcome to SR! I'm on day 3 too! |
Thanks to everyone glad to see others exactly where I am at. Instead of thinking about drinking I have been thinking all day about the fact that I am quitting and what negative affects it has had on my health over the years. Im looking forward to taking on day 4. Grindilow I was just reading your post in another thread I my occupation is in IT as well.. good luck moving forward |
Yeah mrnigel I desperately want to get sober for my job as well as myself. Sick of going in hungover and just getting through the day instead of actually going up the ranks. Reminding ourselves where drinking has taken us is always a good technique for me. It's always that sneaky voice that gets me in a split second. I have to be vigilant this time... |
:welcome I'm glad you found us and joined the family. Looking forward to sharing your sober journey. :) |
Any advise out there around Multi Vitamins or supplements for liver function such as milk thistle or vitamin b? Am I think way to much in to this? |
Welcome mrnigelt :) All I did was take a multi vitamin - as to what you should take, none of us are Doctors and we cant give you medical advice here anyway - what may work for some may not work, or even be suitable, for others. If you're really concerned consulting your own Dr is the best bet :) D |
Welcome to the Forum!! |
Welcome Mrnigelt! Start by drinking plenty of pure water and a slice of lemon. Hydrate that body. Each day sober is a day closer to feeling healthier. |
Welcome mrnigelt! :c009: |
Welcome and well done on day 3 x |
Welcome. Insomnia was intense for me at first, too. Real intense as I was also taking over the counter sleep aids along with drinking. I had not had a substance-free night of sleep in about 8 years until about 9 weeks ago. I was in the Twilight Zone for the first 2 weeks. Me and 3 AM became very familiar with one another. But it was better than being hungover, and I kept on telling myself what someone told me here: "Lack of sleep won't kill you, but alcohol will kill you." But I think it was good because I never, ever want to go through that crucible again. I survived the insomnia, and you can too. |
Day 7 Doing well taking multivitamins. thank you for all of the support |
That's great, mrnigelt. Well done :bigok: |
Welcome and well done on 7 days! So this is your first time publicly addressing the issue - that's amazingly brave of you and a big step forward. Onwards and upwards! |
congratulations on deciding to change your life. Everyday will be better and better. |
I have also been feeling a bit "out of it" at times. I want to say I feel it behind my eyes and my head just feels cloudy. Doesnt seem to be consistent it just hits me. Anyone else get this? |
