The tough time of day, so I am posting

All,

It is the tough time of day for me. I know if I can get through the next 90 minutes my craving will pass (at least it has the past 2 days, I hope it doesn't last any longer this day!). Boy do I look forward to a day when I don't think about alcohol this time of day. How soon will that happen?

Fortunately I have this site and am also reading a really good book so I can pass time both ways.

Thanks for your support. Wanting to make it through day 3! Since I don't have any alcohol in the house I will do it but not because I am not thinking about drinking! I know I can't drink today. Trying to not think beyond today.

The longer you're sober the less you'll think about drinking. It does take a while to form new sober habits and ways of living, but it will happen.

I think it varies for all of us 2b

I didn't really have a time of day cos I was an all day everyday drinker, but like I said last time - maybe change your routine a little around this time of day - try to take your mind off it?

Reading helps. Normally I would be opening the bottle of wine now. But I am not.

Hey 2b. There's nothing in that bottle of wine for you but misery. We know you won't cave. You are doing great - and we're proud of you.

2bhappier, you're doing great! I am also trying to get through day 3. After work today has been tough and I've only been off for 2 hours. Just praying my thoughts won't overwhelm me anymore and take it a little bit at a time. It also is probable that I go to bed earlier tonight too, to get through the rest of the evening. We need to stick together! TOMORROW IS DAY 4

hi someone on this site posted a quote, which i really like:

"i'd rather be sober thinking about drinking, than being drunk thinking about being sober".

an urge can be annoying and unpleasant, perhaps even scary, but it's just a feeling and it will pass. stay strong. soon enough it will get late and hopefully you'll be able to get a decent night of sleep.
hang in there. you can make it.

2 b,

Just reaching out will help keep you sober along with the others following the pace with you. It helps to do this together!

I'm counting on you!

That's how it was for me too. Drank from 7-10 each night. That's when the cravings raged. The liquor store closes at 10 so no point craving after that. It lasted for probably a few weeks but kept getting easier. Spend lots of time here distracting yourself.

Fix a cup of tea, herbal if you have it. Or better yet, a glass of water with the juice of one lemon squeezed into it. Something about the slight tartness of it really hits the spot!
