Suekie,
Stay strong. I am only 34 days in; when I have these thoughts I go back and revisit all the reasons I decided to quit. I think if my kids; I will not pass this affliction on to them. The addiction is trying to speak to you. Don't listen! I am trusting that the longer we stay sober the cravings will be less frequent and easier to handle. I am looking forward to tomorrow morning! Waking up with no hangover, no guilt and no regret.

So, you miss doing something you chose to free yourself from 61 days ago?
What do you miss?
How are you doing now as compared to 61 days ago?
Hang on right now. Get busy. You can drink later....
Or Not!!
Best,
D.D.

Congrats suekie
I missed it for a long time - it was my life for 20 years - but the more I built a sober life I loved the less I missed it.
If you're still white knuckling, maybe it's time to think of the changes you could make in your life too? do you think you need more support?

When we make the decision to quit drinking we are casting aside our "best friend". It has been with us throught thick and thin, lifted us when we were down, been a comfort to us when needed. So wondering and doubting are natural. It does get easier with time and untill that time we do what we must to stay sober, reach out to other sober friends, AA, what ever it takes. Congrats on the 61 days, keep in sight how you got here, .... one day at a time. Stay strong
61!! way to go!!!
Your words make me wonder if you're working on your recovery, or just 'not drinking'.
Sobriety is more than just not picking up.... maybe this is a good time to reflect on what more you may be able to give yourself to grow and move beyond 'missing it' into a life of embracing the goodness without it?
In any case, stay strong..... 61 days is a fantastic milestone.

Every time I think about alcohol I think about the negative affects it has had on me and my life. I think about all those times I woke up feeling terrible and the fight I had just to make it through the day. I think about all the regret, shame, disappointment, etc. that I had always felt. Alcohol is so very tiring. It is not worth giving in to. There are no true benefits.
Hi Suekie, and, wow, great job on 61. I'm 60 today. For me, one phrase really stands out from all the responses to your thread: ". . . Built a sober life," as Dee said. I thought about that, building a sober life. Sure, I think about the time it takes to build something, but I also think about how we build-brick by brick, nail by nail, board by board. Keep building that sober life Suekie. Over time, if we keep building, we'll have a damn nice place, so much nicer than that old one. Sending you good sober thoughts and energy.
