Decision Day
As of 1/17/14 I no longer drink.
I will be using CORE and Rational Recovery principles. Hence, just saying I don't drink.
I'm a merry-go-round abuser. Apex: Get very drunk many weekends in a row, escaping thoughts, responsibilities. Live with hangovers and an angry husband. Go "whoa" and stop drinking for a month. Have a drink in the guise "I can just have two glasses." Well, no Mai, you can't. Escalates back to the apex over weeks/months.
Wash, rinse, repeat. Over HALF MY LIFE.
I'm done. So here I am.

Great decision. I am glad you made it. You are right, enough is enough. I am like you, merry-go-round. I stay sober 5-9 months and then something happened. It is always, like, yeah, I cam handle it, just one glass or two. This will work like for 2 weeks, and then 2 weeks heavy drinking and embarrassment and everything what comes with that. I hope this forum will be beneficial for all of us and we all learn from our mistakes.
Sugar Bear: Commit, Objectify, Respond, Enjoy. Ellis (behaviorist) calls them irrational vs rational thoughts, Rational Recovery refers to it as "The Beast" Freud would have called it "id."
Short little wikihow on it if you google "How to Quit Drinking without Alcoholics Anonymous" I would have given a link, but I need to wait until I get more posts in.
