commercials
I know it sounds dumb, but booze commercials really affect me. I crave alcohol every time I see them. I feel like the stupid "please drink responsibly" in tiny font on the bottom is smacking me in face.
Anyone experience the same thing?

I remember going through a phase where everyone and everything seemed to be focused around it . All it is, is poison with good advertising anyhow .
Flick the adverts over , go into the kitchen for 3 mins , do what you need to do to get through . Eventually they won't bother you or thats how it is/was for me .
Keep on

Yes when I first quit I noticed these commercials all the time. Also ads on the radio and even when reading. Booze everywhere! But that is because at the time that is all I focused on.
You do notice it less the longer you are sober. As for those darn feminine hygiene commercials, they still have the power to bug the heck out of me!

It is no surprise that the commercials affect you and all of us. Advertisers know our minds better than we know our minds. Read the book Habits. It talks about how advertisers use our base brain (basal ganglia) and our habits to create powerful marketing messages.
I notice booze more in shows themselves. A few nights ago it seemed like every male actor was nonchalantly drinking whisky. I reminded myself that it wasn't actually whisky they were drinking. They were just pretending.

I know what you mean by those commercials. I am a big fan of watching football games. It seems most of the commercials have to do with drinking. Or commercials that come on late at night, like the guy that says "stay thirsty my friends", like I have to be reminded of that. During the football games, I usually plan on doing some quick chores around my house, than back to the game. Works for me.
commercials, billboards, ads in magazines, scenes in movies, facebook statuses....
Not so much cravings as noticings; I NOTICE how prevalent booze is. It's just everywhere. And that both annoys me and sometimes pulls at me. Rather than a craving really, I find myself having to think about why it seems almost sad to consider going and doing... well, everything, without alcohol. It's practically revered in our culture.
Gee... how can one play cards, watch TV, observe a sport, celebrate any occasion, do ANYTHING without also drinking???? HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE!!!???
hahaha..... it's almost comical after the annoyance and sadness passes.

Eventually alcohol just becomes that sad little attention seeker at school that you stopped caring or thinking about years ago When once they seemed superior and popular, they now have a sad little pathetic existence in some hovel. Alcohol cant offer me anything any more, let all the other people in society have the next million hangovers. They can keep them
