New year, new me!
New year, new me!
Hi everyone,
First post on here. I joined because I decided that this is the year I quit drinking. I have been drinking for over 10 years, the last three I have gotten progressively worse and was hidding bottles from my husband in my closet and having a party for one with booze every night.
I joined AA and I have been sober since January 4rth, today is day 13 of sobriety.
I have been drinking coffee like crazy and eating sweets, I crave that alcohol, especially today Friday. It is not easy, and since I have a little one in the house I cannot attend many meetings. I hope to get strength from others who have been down the sobriety road and have had success.
I think the support of others is the only way to beat alcoholism. I tried everything to no avail, till I joined AA.
Looking forward to chatting on here, all the best...

Congratulations on 14 days. Even with many years I need to remember one day at a time basics. It does get better if we let it and if we don't pick up the first drink we don't need to get sober AGAIN! "It is not easy" all the time but millions have done it. I've found AAs face to face meetings so important also for phase 2, staying sober. Using the tools have delivered me to unbelievable inner peace most of the time.
BE WELL

Thank you for that IOAA2, its that first drink that has been obsessively haunting me these days, but I know better. It has always been that first drink that has been getting me in trouble for years.

I know people who bring their little ones and bring a coloring book to keep them busy, it's worth a try. If it doesn't work out go to plan B a Baby sitter while you go to the meeting. You are not the first Alcoholic who has small kids. The support is very important.
God Bless!

I'm glad you found us and joined the family. You've made a wise decision to stop drinking. I quit for good over four years ago and don't miss it one bit. Congrats on your 13 days sober!
