I just didnt have the guts to speak up....
That explains a lot. Ironic that in not wanting to tempt him, they end up to putting your recovery at risk. Its not fair is it ?

Wow Arctic, you dealt with that so well especially so early on in your recovery. I've been thinking about you today and wondering how you were doing...and have to admit it's made my day to hear your update. Ace job

Thanks! It was miserable, but I am so grateful I had this site to come on. It was literally minutes after the alcohol landed in my fridge, that I thought "SR will know what to say and do!"

Well done.

Time to get to work on your hubby, getting him onboard with the new program.

Awesome job getting through that Arctic. It is definitely inspiring for those of us that may not have fared as well. Will you be sitting down with hubby to explain what you just went through so these temptations don't happen again?

This is such a great release for me. I forgot my password and was going crazy to get back on to share with you. I can be alcoholic about anything. I just wanted to add that driving miss daisy has nothing on driving Mr jones (my father) to carson city. Its people places and things make me want to drink to cope with all my stresses. I find that I have the control after a week and you do too. I can react or not react. I can go to a place of gratitude and be helpful without being hurtfull. I sometimes think that I don't know who I am. Since alcohol was my definition. But hey I'd rather be sober today then drunk. My favorite aa saying back in the day was trust=truth&time. Thanks for listening.

I gather that you too are a recovering alcoholic, just like your sister in law's dad. What goes for him should go also for you. It seems insensitive that she would assume that these "presents" are any more appropriate in your home than they are in the custody of your dad. She should send her "presents" elsewhere. I'm sure she has friends or relatives who could take care of this alcohol or drink it (although the "homemade hooch" may be unsafe to drink). They have no right to expect you to tough it out when they are unwilling to impose that responsibility on their dad. Put the "presents" in the garage and notify your sister in law. If the stuff freezes then it's their responsibility not yours.

Have u made them aware that u ate in recovery?
I'd just chuck it out
my husband sometimes drinks infront of me and it's hard but I'm thankful it's stuff i don't like.
