Angry sic and embarrassed

I am back here because I can't drink right now. I really can't drink period.seems like everytime I drink, my wife and I get into fights. I let a ton of stuff build up and then I drink because of all the BS and than I snap when she gets an attitude. Today I can't even look at her because I feel like crap and embarrased for my behavior.I scared my kids and made my wife sad. I need to turn this around. 1st thing is to feel better. I really hate this cycle

For many of us it was no longer a matter of not drinking right now, it was to never drink again. Only way we could break the cycle.

You still have a lot going for you, a wife and kids.

Hope you find your way to not drinking. Best of luck, this place is great for support.

geno - I remember when it finally clicked, in my head, that I could not use (my DOC was crack). It never fixed anything, caused more problems, and I think it happens with most of us, regardless of what we drink/use.

Good for you for coming here. I hope you stick around, reading and posting. You aren't alone.

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

Right ur here give ur head a shake and realise what u have around u.
U are either going to realize how bad u are when u drink n never drink again because your family n life is more important or u will carry on drinking making the same mistakes.
U cannot scare your children it's not good they will remember it.
Apologise to your wife and tell her u need help.
We are here for u as long as u are willing to try xxx
We all **** up ever so often I know I have but the main thing is we never give up.
You need to decide if this is what u really want to do because if so we will back u all the way xxx

It's an awful cycle and it's really hard to take that first step out of it, but you can do it. You can be the person you want to be.

You had a week or so sober back in September last year, what were you doing then that worked? It is hard for anyone to stop, but not impossible. Why not start today?

Alcoholics of my type seem to need some help to stop.

"Many of us felt that we had plenty of character. There was a tremendous urge to cease forever. Yet we found it impossible. This is the baffling feature of alcoholism as we know it - this utter inability to leave it alone, no matter how great the necessity or the wish."

That was me. But I did find a way to stop for good, and its worked for nearly 34 years now. It's not a matter of needing or having to stop, it's about wanting to stop.

Geno - I'm so glad you decided to come back & talk it over. I hope you can stop for good this time. It's so hard to admit it brings us nothing but misery. There's no telling what will happen once it gets in our system. You don't need it.
