hi all, first time
Just found the site by searching online for help for extreme hunger pangs after just getting sober for a week. Nice to hear that so many have had the same problem, not alone in this. The interesting thing is that the sugar cravings aren't that bad, its just that every couple of hours i'm frigging starving! Then I start to eat and it doesn't take that much to satiate that hunger. I guess that's the way we're supposed to eat anyway; A little every few hours or so.
Think I'm gonna check out other forums. Interested in how many people here are getting sober without A.A.

Welcome trick
'twas same thing for me too. I drank so much, barely ate & lost a lot of weight. But when sobered up & started eating normally, gained 35lbs! Craved sugar a lot so drank lots of coffee @ mtgs & @ home. Chocolate then became my craving but it's gone down significantly(still have bag I got during Christmas)
But it all depends on your metabolism

Welcome to the family. I'm glad you found us.
I got sober without AA. I had an addiction counselor I saw once a week and I came to this site often. I credit those two things for my four years sober.

I wouldn't say I'm completely without AA. I go about once a week as a means of sharing FTF with other alkies. Don't get into the spiritual aspects of the program (steps) too much as some of them are not a fit for me. I find SR to be great.
Welcome BTW!
