9 Months alcohol free!!
9 Months alcohol free!!
I just wanted to share that with everyone.
It feels really good to be here. Early recovery was REALLY tough sometimes. Not so much the not drinking aspect- drinking had become really miserable for me and I knew that I didn't want to go back to that. It was still very difficult to deal with PAWS, learn to deal with my emotions and figure out how to live life sober. But it was SO WORTH IT!!!
Pretty much every single aspect of my life has improved. So, if it's early on and you're struggling- STICK TO IT!!! You'll get 'there' and be so glad you did.
I made a post at 6 months on what I did to get there and I've pretty much stuck to the same stuff to get to 9 months, so I won't re-write all of that, but I will share the link if anyone is interested: http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...along-way.html

Great work! Thanks for sharing the news, you're doing fantastic and I am glad to hear you're feeling so good about things!
You are totally right about the "gets better" thing. You might not notice it in a minute-by-minute sense (which is hard, because you DO notice minute-by-minute changes when drinking/smoking), but when you look back at the body of work you can really see how much all aspects have improved.
Thanks again for the post!
