Empty rum bottle and meth drawings

Last night I was going through my closet and I found an empty liquor bottle. For some reason, it really bothered me. I wanted to cry. I guess it reminded me of September. That's when I was drinking every day again. I also stumbled across some drawings I did while high on meth. I started remembering how horrible and miserable that time in my life was. I'm grateful to be sober. I don't have to live like that ever again!

while they may have evoked a sadness and an emotional response... also they seem to have been gifts. Reminders of why you have chosen sobriety and how cherished it is.

They've also been gifts to me, so thank you for sharing and helping me stay sober today.

That reminds me of that Family Guy episode where Peter and Louis were in a band and they were constantly smoking weed, and to them their music was fantastic. When they sobered up, they realized it was terrible haha. It's amazing how "real" life is when we take off the intoxication glasses

Sometimes it is nice to be reminded how far along the road you are and what it is that you have left miles behind. It can also be a good reminder to us how great the sober life is and is something we should never take for granted.

I know how you feel. I found my corkscrew while cleaning out my desk. Sad reminder of what my life used to be...

Keep in mind how far you've come and know that you never need to go back there.

I COMPLETELY understand! I found an empty nip bottle while cleaning out a cupboard yesterday and although I was sad about it, I was also proud that I am no longer living that life. Keep going, it only gets better!!! Congrats on 1 month!

Last time I did meth was March of 2010. Thank God! I was strung out pretty bad for a couple of years (was also on pills and drinking) until I went to rehab the first time...

Yes, it reminded me of the chaos and insanity that were constant parts of my existence. Today I have a life. I can't even explain everything AA has done for me "
