Kris - if you're scared of withdrawal - see a Dr.
It's absolutely the safest way to go.
My last home detox did not go well, so I can't in all good conscience recommend you do it 'alone'
Whatever other factors are in play, nothings more important than your health and well being.

I wouldn't say I did it all on my own but, for the most part, I did. The first week all I did was work on getting through the nasty symptoms of the detox (foolishly, without seeking medical advice first). Then, I joined this site and it has been my number one tool in staying sober. I also opened up to close friends and select family members who I trust a few weeks in. It took me about two months of relapsing three or four times for a few days (September and October) before it stuck. Once I got my head straight that I really didn't enjoy the act of drinking anymore, the cravings got better as the weeks went by.
Good morning Kris,
You can do it! Main thing is one day at a time!!!
This is a great site for support lot of caring and loving people who are going through the same thing or something similar to what your going through!
Few things that have been helping me is:
Going to meetings/talking to my sponsor
Reading the big book
This site
Living one day at a time! Can't change the past but you can change today!
Wish you well!

Things are a little complicated. I'm looking at a TKR within a month or so.
Do I need just a primary physician to see or a "booze" doctor?
Once agin, thanks to all for your help.

Kris47, I'm 59, 3 years 6 months sober, you can do it as well. Talking to your doctor is a good thing to do. As far as support goes, you'll get it right here, 24/7. Create a thread, PM people, someone is here all the time. Rootin for ya.
You can do it, good luck! Come back to these forums and post every day. I find the more you read about other peoples' situations and try to offer some support, the more it helps you personally as well. I'm not really sure I understand why, but it seems to be that way.
Good luck!
Good luck!
I'm a little overwhelmed by the support here. It may take me awhile to know just who you are. lol.
thanks Hunt, Dee and Dbj. Thanks nefer, keep cheering me on! What a beautiful rose!
Clearmind, think I've found some good new friends.
Can't get into a doctor for two weeks. What can I do in the meantime? Wean off?
Kris
ps if I somehow don't respond to everyone right, just know that I feel your help and support!
