Repost - article on drinking in business

This was posted last year, but I wanted to share again because it really saddens me that what I believed to be true is widely held to be so. Not drinking in networking business world hurts business (article's claim):

http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/1...rink-for-work/

Besides a few small examples of people who were successful after recovery and the extreme examples of people very naturally talented (Buffett) this dumb article makes it sound like we are dooming ourselves in sobriety. This type of article perpetuates ignorance about people with drinking problems. Sigh.

Thanks for sharing this. I have felt pressure as well to participate at work but haven't noticed any disadvantages to abstain either. I think some professions are a little more at risk than others. I can only imagine how difficult it would be to work in sales where alcohol is the norm for closing deals.
