First truly "sober" day

Hi all.

Been posting here and there the last couple days. Working on day 6 of alcohol abstinence and am happy to report that today I'm attempting my first day without marijuana as well. It's been about a full decade since I wasn't using either substance, although alcohol was my big killer, pot was just as much a part of my escaping reality.

I know this is just the start and there will be bumps along the way, but happy to check in here with my first truly "sober" day of 2014 . You guys have all been a huge, huge help and I feel like I couldn't have made these choices without reading all your stories and posting here. Thank you for sharing and good luck to everyone else seeking recovery!

You are on the right track. It may feel bad for a few days but within a short time you'll start to feel the benefits and then you can start to draw up a programme which will keep you in long term sobriety.
