the best revenge is a life well lived
or for me a life lived sober. So to everyone in my life go screw yourselves. Just kidding. However I do believe that this is an attitude that has spurred me forward in staying sober. Sobriety is power. I can't do poor me.
I found sobriety empowering too. It felt like I was finally making the decision to take control of my life and take responsibility for my life.
Scared me half to death and sometimes still does, but that's the challenge of it. Feeling at the mercy of alcohol and feeling powerful were mutually exclusive to me.
I think in the beginning all kinds of thoughts push us on, so whatever is helping you stay sober may work now and then new things will come over time that motivate sobriety too.
