First day of quitting marijuana

Hi guys it's my first day quitting pot, and Im just looking for some support and ideas to get through quitting. So Ill give you some history, I'm 24 years old prior to about June 2013 I had maybe smoked weed a handful of times in my life. I have been renovating my house and hired an old friend to do some electrical work for me and he asked if I wanted to smoke weed and we did so and I really enjoyed it, I've been so stressed out with work, women the normal stuff that I just loved the escape from reality. So ever since my friends and myself have been smoking weed almost every free day, it's been destroying my life and I feel ashamed of myself and I just find it so hard not to take the escape. But that all ends today and I'm quitting and Im looking forward to a hopefully successful attempt at quitting marijuana cold turkey forever.

Hi Canuck - welcome

I stopped smoking pot after 30 years, more or less daily, so it can be done. It;s not pleasant but it's not impossible either.

You'll probably feel a little restless and irritable, maybe some broken sleep and night sweats for a little while.

It's best to keep busy, keep active - stay out of your smoking circle for a while, and think about more positive ways to unwind, relax and de stress

You can do it man. I literally tossed my bong off my deck and watched it smash into a hundred pieces (and it was a $100 one) on my first day. I am totally against littering and I had to go clean up the mess but it was my way of saying "I'm doing this!". So ditch your paraphernalia or break it like I did, and remember its all about you. You don't have to worry about what your friends do or say, this is your choice, your life.

Welcome..

I smoked weed half my life ( about 15 years).
Quitting weed is very strange and hard at times, but i surely can be done.

Good luck and keep posting at this great forum.
