7 days thx for the tips

Hi all. 7 days for me. What is weird this time is I have taken the suggestion yo read a few books from SR people. I couldn't put them down thinking the whole time this is me. Now I have an understanding of why I didn't stop. So I can say while it has been 7 days the difference this time is the desire to drink is not there like the past times. There are not urges to fight. So I say thank u all

That is so wonderful to hear! I'm on Day 12 and would love to hear which books you read and found helpful.

Congratulations to you both!! I found SR, and the people here, to be a HUGE part of my recovery. I found out I wasn't alone, others posted versions of "my story". I added some F2F support (family and friends) and am coming up on 7 years.

When we finally reach the point where we really know "this is it"? We find the support we need.

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

Go to amazon. The first was "kick the drink easily" by Jason vale. It was a real eye opener so combining what I learned in that book with "rational recovery" has been a major benefit

Part of why I had trouble in the past was I thought if I quit I would be giving up something. Jason helped me see alcohol for what it is. A good example is I use to say I needed alcohol to relieve the stress or if I were at a party needed it to have a good time. Jason showed this is just brainwashing. Ex look at kids. Kids go to parties and have a great time and don't drink. When kids are stressed out we don't say here have some alcohol. I could go on but the book does a great job.

I second that! It is a helpful book with a logical approach.

Great to hear pmaub, keep it up. Finding out about alcohol was a big part of my recovery as was SR.
