you were right

So I posted a bit back about stopping drinking red wine and focusing on my depression and hoping that I could control drinking as long as I didn't have red wine...well the white wine or cider or beer just led me back to the same whole of embarresment in life...I just cant control it and it sucks waking up feeling so crappy and embarrased. Thats how Im feeling today and needed to vent.:react:headbange

well hey... now you have a choice!

1- do something about it
2- don't

But either way, beating yourself up won't help.

(I'd go with #1)

Have you considered visiting an AA meeting?

I hope this time you can stop drinking for good. :)

What's the plan now? Good luck!

I think a lot of us have experimented with changing alcoholic drinks to try and control our drinking. This is actually in the Big Book....a guy walks into a bar and orders a glass of milk and then orders a shot and pours it into the milk convincing himself that it's healthier. Of course he ends up having another glass of milk with a shot in it. Lol

You can stop when you're ready to give up. What do you think?

boy I know that feeling.

Can you get to a meeting. Today?

Action helps....

It's your future. Change it.

I'm right with you. It doesn't matter what I drink. I drink to get drunk and I make a fool of myself. Don't hold on to the past. Set your sights on your future.

KateL 01-02-2014 11:25 AM

Yep, plod on, you can do it xxxx

The silver lining of alcohlism is that it's 100% treatable and you never have to feel that way again in regards to your drinking. How about joining the January sober thread or hitting an AA meeting? You feel like crap now, we all did in the same situation. The best way to feel better is to dust yourself off and do something about it. Self pity will get you nowhere.

I thought I felt that way, too. Then one day I realized that I felt hopeful, but the alcoholic living in my head kept telling me I was hopeless because he knew it would give me an excuse to drink again. That dirty bastitch is naught but lies and deceit.

I feel like putting him in a box and plugging his airhole for a while, that usually cheers me up! :)

Think of something a hopeful person would do right now.

Now go do that! Positive activity confuses the daylights out of my AV.

You can do this.

I was supposed to go to dinner with friends but I know they will order wine and I know the temptation will be too strong so I cancelled and am going to stay in with my gf

Oh I used to say the same thing, "It was the red wine that made me sick and overdo it" "Oh it was white" "I need to eat while drinking, drink water, avoid hard liquor" Oh my list could go on. The alcohol did it. I struggle with depression too, but not drinking has helped tremendously and at least I'm awake and have my mental faculties to actually DO something about it.

Hi Copperfield. I remember how painful that admission was for me. We all understand how you're feeling right now - but be proud of yourself for facing up to this. Some never see what drinking is doing to them until it's too late to turn things around.

We promise there is life after alcohol. At some point you will be so glad you are free of it.
