It's been a rough night I had a good cry

Woke up at 3 AM with anxiety as it seems that is the time that it usually hits me. Ugh!! Haven't been able to get back to sleep as I had that feeling of being scared to try. I felt so helpless that I just broke down and had a good cry. In just a short while I'll need to start getting ready for work and I can't see that it's going to be such a great day with sleep deprivation. I can only hope this day goes quick....

I find playing a little game with myself can help...

The game is called "One Good Thing".

The object of the game is pretty simple.... just try and come up with One Good Thing to think about.

After you find one... wait a little while.... when you find yourself thinking about not so good things.... play the game again.

*repeat as needed*

Oh... and you don't have to drink over it.

Hi. Your post reminds me of the horrible things that could have happened if you'd have been drinking like being in jail or hospital, a car wreck in which some personal injuries were a result or yourself or people in your family were in ICU because of your drinking. It took awhile to appreciate the words Being Grateful instead of being self centered as I was so often.

BE WELL

Hope your day get's better.

The good news is, if you achieve sobriety days like today can be history.

It will be ok, sometimes a good cry is healing. Get through your day, have a bath and some tea and get to bed early.

Ah, the 3am view of the world. Yes, I have known that all too well. Stick with it Iluvdisney. It does get better, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with letting the tension out with tears.

Crying is better than drinking.

Drink plenty of water today. It will help. Crying always dehydrates me and then I get a headache which makes things even worse.

You probably would have cried last night even if you were drinking and then you would be hungover, sleep deprived and dehydrated.

There is one good thing right there!

Like Michael said, nothing wrong with a few tears, as long as there's no alcohol involved! Hang in there!

I've found recently that crying helps me release some of my pent up anxiety. Sometimes it can help you get it out your system.

I hope you feel a bit better and sleep better tonight. I'm sleeping bad atm too as I'm day 3 and just got through withdrawal but I'm confident it will get better.

Stay strong
