Man, i feel smug :)
Just went to local shop for bread - now at 8.45am even on a bank holiday, there are usually loads of cars on the road and people walking into the city. This morning? ONE car went past me and 2 people, both of whom had sore expressions on their faces. Hangover city it seems.
Me? I was wandering along, not a care in the world and SO thankful for not drinking
HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Xx

It is the best feeling isn't it ? Better than being completely loaded and out of control.. just now I hear sirens and that is probably either a drunk driving accident or something alcohol related given that it is free for all no boundaries type of holiday.
So glad I'm safe and sound and sober.. Thanks for that Skye.. you are not being smug..just grateful and aware how lucky you are.. Happy New year!

Hmmm, I read the paper this morning about the drunken brawls, emergency rooms full of drunken patients and a poor lad that is in a critical condition after being kinghit in a drunken incident. To be honest, I felt sadness that there are folks suffering out there. I wish they knew what path they are going down....
Anyway, not to ruin your day Miss ! Go ahead and feel smug ! But could I suggest that you also feel grateful for this gift of sobriety as well
Edit: oops, you did mention that you are thankful, my bad

You have every right to be smug. It is 7:00 AM here the dogs know my schedule and started bugging me at 6:30. Feeling great and looking forward to a new sober year. I would imagine more than a few are coming to in a jail cell. Me Im off to a 9:00 AM AA meeting. God it is good to be sober
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!!!

Awwwwwww I LOVE dogs - can't have one where I am at the moment, so one of my main resolutions, is to move by summer. I used to have a rescue/rehome before I came here and miss it SO much. Give them a cuddle for me and Happy New Year!! Xx

It is 4:15 am I am still dealing with insomnia and had the pleasure of hearing my neighbor hit his garage. I couldn't help but think "oh God this is the first year I can somewhat laugh at something like that.

Sorry to hear about the insomnia - I had that at first too, but it does pass. Might be the huge amounts of hot chocolate I drink though
Happy New Year Xx
Happy New Year, everyone!
For those in the UK who've been out and about this morning, either this weather hasn't reached you yet, or you're incredibly brave and have huge umbrellas!
