Why is Getting Better and why is SR so Important
I'm still a newcomer to recovery since my last relapse 92 days ago, and would like to share my yesterday's experience with so many of us that struggle on their 3rd or 10th or 20th day sober and do not know how to go through the crisis...
Had a really tough "live event" (lost all three sources of income and already booked trip to Tokyo) in a course of several hours Sunday. But I did not have a lingering relapse crisis, or a relapse, for two reasons:
1st -- had that happened in early recovery I'm afraid I would've not gotten out of it so easily. So it is WORTH fighting off these first days and weeks and stay sober for you get so much stronger to face life afterwards. (on 14th day sober I came here stating I will drink, it was too difficult - the support I received here helped me went through it. If yesterday was my 14th day, I would've faced a huge challenge. This time it was, not a non-event, but much, much easier)
2nd -- and I can't stress this one enough: this freaking SR helps just a few words of encouragement, just a bit of understanding and a tiny little dash of thinking "now is a time to have one" was brushed off easily. Were I not here for the support, I'm not sure "a tiny little dash" would have not turned into a full blown hurricane Relapse. (on 14th day sober I came here ...)
(translation: SR!!)
It is worth staying sober (sober to me = alive and feeling!!) in this glorious penultimate day of a tough year. Therefore,
EVERYONE!!

Thanks guys!!
My point was, I guess, to reiterate how much easier is to face life difficulties once one is sober, if compared to the agony of being drunk.
Good luck everyone!!
