Day 8 and the brain fog has gone

hi

Just to say that I am proud to be on day 8 and sober. My thinking is much clearer and my feelings of impending doom and anxiety have resided.

I feel hopeful and not helpless.

I clearly recognise I had a problem with alcohol when every activity I did had to end with a drink or alcohol was somehow part of the daily plan.

I am now concentrating on keeping the BEAST and finding out about what I really like doing and where I want to go in my life.

I have found that the AVRT method works for me with dealing with feeling "needy" too.

Thanks for the support.

Well done o 8 days. I am glad you are seeing the benefits. AVRT is my saviour. Recognising the cravings as being just that. They are just thoughts. Without your physical intervention they are harmless. Ride them out and they will pass and the next one is weaker and so on. You are on the right road , the road to a better life. All the best.

I DONT DRINK NOW AND I WILL NEVER DRINK AGAIN NO MATTER WHAT !

Hi Josafe, day 8 and fantastic progress.

The fogs amazing isn't it, you don't realise you have it really until it's lifted.

Congratulations on 8 days. Many of us don't look at the reasons we drank. The most common reason was to block, run away from our feelings which I and many need to work on even after years of abstinence. We find that this work contributes to a solid sobriety as opposed to a white knuckle one.

BE WELL

Well done, Josafe When my fog began to lift I was able to look objectively for the first time at what I'd been doing - to myself and to others. I didn't like what I saw, but it really helped to cement my resolve. AVRT is a huge factor (plus posting here) in keeping that motivation going

Stick with it, Josafe, you're on your way!

I, too, did really well when I recognized that the thoughts I was having didn't have control of me. They were just thoughts - no more than that. I could notice them and let them go.

I'm glad you're doing well.

Check out our Secular Connections forum if you think you may benefit from a non 12 step approach like AVRT
