gotta stop

I drink about 100 light beers a week. Somehow ive managed to function other than a couple of car wrecks and arrests yrs ago. Now I'm a pro but I have to stop. Recently prescribed naltrexone. I hope this works.

Hi Kelkal
Welcome to SR.

I've never tried naltrexone but be prepared have to use a little bit of effort along with it....There's no miracle cure and, in the end, all of us simply have to make better choices.

I know you'll find support here

Welcome friend. 100 beers a week is pretty high, but just so you now I was at around 80 just over a month ago and haven't had one since. It is possible, so keep that in mind if you start doubting it. I did nothing special, I just stopped. I deal with my emotions, how to spend my time, and always keep in mind why I don't want to drink. It is for sure a new thing, but new in this case is a GOOD thing in my experience.

Post all you like here, you are not alone and we will get through this together. I don't know naltrexone myself but hang on, someone will be along shortly that does. Either way, fight your fight and know everyone here is right beside you in your fight. We don't leave anyone behind, unless it is their choice.

to SR from a fellow Buckeye.

You've come to a good place for support in quitting drinking. I don't know about naltrexone either but Dee is right: it takes effort to stay sober, not just a pill. Living sober is worth the effort tho.

Welcome to SR, kelkal! A prescription can be very helpful but I agree with the others- it has to be a part of a bigger plan to quit. It sounds like you're on the right track, though!
