40 Days Sober!
Christmas has come and gone, some persevered, some did not, but no man was left behind, the SR community congratulated and consoled, picked up those that decided that all hope was lost, we where there for our brothers and sisters in the struggle.
What is 40 Days, nothing, I've read posts talking about 25yrs Sober, christ I'll be 55yrs old if I reach that milestone, I have a fear that the damage I've already inflicting on this body has been too great, this body may just give up long before reaching such an age.
We all face the daily battles, the struggle for a drink, never drinking another dram of Whisky makes me sad, but I tell you now, Whisky you will not make me happy, you will not fulfil any of my dreams, and the romanticized BS that you sell to me everyday is nonsense, I don't need you, you are simply a door to the life I don't want to live anymore!
Where do we go from here? NYE is the next battle, but we will face it head on just as we did with Christmas, we can do this, we don't have to fear alcohol anyone, it is simply a liquid that can be poured down the drain, it's got nothing, my mind cannot make me drink it, it cannot force me to have it, you are the weak one, and I am the strong one holding all the cards!!
SR you rock!! I wouldn't be sober without you, you don't know it when you post, but it means the world to me!!

BTW, you did post like hell all christmas and helped to many including me. LOL! Thank you for your dedication!

Congratulations, purpleknight! 
But spare a thought for us oldies - when I'm 55 I'll only have 3 years of sobriety. I'll be 77 before I reach my silver jubilee! 
But we're doing it now and that's all that counts!
