I could use some advice
Rather than the beers, is it possible to see a doctor and get a substitute for the withdrawals? they will be able to give you something to get you through the symptoms.
Your right, it's tough, having soo much time alone leads to so much temptation, the best thing is to start taking it a Day at a time, plan things to do during the time that you would usually be drinking.
Support is the big thing, most of us would agree, it can't be done alone, we need support, are you planning on AA meetings or other community groups, some of us just stay active on websites like this one and that's enough. The main thing is getting something that works for you.

Yes, like Heath said there should be an AA Helpline. I'm not sure what area you're in but a lot of them have webpages. I'm currently without a car/license right now myself. If you can get to ONE meeting you'll be shocked at how many people will offer to pick you up and drop you off. The people in AA are the most generous and giving people on the planet.
Others have mentioned AA -- and it's free! I haven't tried it yet but will be shortly. Just got out of detox and a lot of the people in there had some pretty positive things to say about it.
There's also a chat room for some more real time interaction, and I believe a weekly chat meeting tonight (not sure when).

Dee posted some links to free/low cost clinics. Maybe check it out and see if there is something in your area?
