Well, I have to admit it. I had two glasses of wine at a Christmas party Saturday night, over the course of 4 hours. Tonight however, I'm sipping tea, and happy to report, alcohol doesn't rule my life anymore. It's a nice feeling -- that after 4 weeks with no alcohol, I perhaps can enjoy the odd drink socially and not go off the deep end. It was nice to finally enjoy a party sober! Time will tell. I do think for most, even having a drink isn't in the cards if the desire to overindulge or fall back into old patterns of drinking is too great.
I know for a fact, I cannot drink at home nor, do I want to as I'm also dealing with an alcoholic husband. He is in total denial, and it's very hard dealing with my recovery while living with a constant drinker....sigh.
Do wish everyone very best of the season though -- sober!

From my personal experience, every time I convinced myself I could control my over indulgence and just have a few socially it wasn't long before I was back at my old routine. Every time. I believe this is the case with many addicts. Please be careful. Best luck to you. Happy holidays.
