I went into detox, they made me comfortable, they were compassionate and I got clean but then the work began. Lots and lots of AA/NA meetings. Took suggestions. Sober 1 yr on the 27th

You've stated your reservations about going to an AA meeting just yet, but being alone in your condition can't be much better, and is probably much worse.
In many places, AA has 'alkathons' for Christmas, New Year's and other holidays. They typically start early on Christmas Eve, and then run late into the evening on Christmas Day.
I've been to a few over the years, including in early sobriety, and was always happy that I did. I'll probably stop by tomorrow. They're generally hour-long meetings throughout the day and night, and are not only for people who are alone or who have no place to go. A lot of folks go to extend their hands to people who are suffering through the holidays.
Don't even think about it. Just go. They won't turn you away because you don't blow numbers.

Just be safe with detox. If it gets really weird don't take chance and go back to ER. Not sure what you told them, hopefully detox was mentioned and they gave you something to be more comfortable and safer.
I'm alone also by choice, 16 days sober. I'll watch movies and post here. Not exciting but better than getting hammered! I don't want to be around booze until I feel more solid.

Choice is yours. We will be here supporting you no matter what the choice may be. Be well and try not to stress to much about this, it's Christmas after all, no need to ruin it, specially that you have little ones.
You did the biggest step, admitting something is not right with your drinking.
Be proud of that!
