Grrr really want to drink today ....

It's day 11 ... It's the holidays ... I really feel like drinking today... Not going to do it, but this is certainly annoying .... I guess if quitting was easy everyone would do it, but this sucks .... I just have to remind myself why I'm staying sober I guess .. Grrrrrr

Go back and re read some of your recent posts Erik to remind you of whats at stake.
Not drinking will get easier, I promise.

Don't just sit around fretting either - get up and do something - stay active and occupied

D

The drinking during the holiday "thing" will get easier the more time you get under your belt. It is nice for me to be able to actually participate fully in the holiday rather than through my red wine haze. Stay strong....it will be worth it

Yeah I'm off to go workout .... Instead of going out for drinks with the smoking hot girls that invited me out .... Grrrrr... I F'ing hate this! That's another thing that's annoying about this ... I might as well just join the priesthood and take a vow of celibacy and live in a monastery because essentially that's what I'm doing by quitting drinking ... So frustrating ... Grrrrrr

Not true! Guys who didn't drink and were comfortable in their skin were always appealing to me when I was single.
You can do this. It is tough in the beginning, but it really does get easier. Good job staying busy. The girls will still be there when you are on more solid ground.

Erik it will get better, I assure you, your right, the first period of sobriety sucks, withdrawals, staying away from any situation or person that would lead to temptation to drink.

BUT . . . after a while, when we become able to deal with social situations without having a craving for alcohol, you'll be back meeting people and enjoying a sober life.

Hang in there!!!

I feel you. I know that not getting some "candy" is not fun at all. There are sober girls out there you know. You just have to hang around a different crowd.

Can't say more, I'm personally had no candy in, months! There I said it. LOL!

Erik, I've been reading your posts right along. Trust me, you will be an AWESOME date when you've gained some sober time! There are lots of fish in the sea, but your #1 job now is to get yourself in fit shape -- fishing can wait.

Do you really want those hot chicks standing around when you get carted off to an emergency room again?

Are you serious? It sounds to me like you are talking yourself into drinking. I mean, normal drinkers do not land themselves in the hospital with no recollection as to what happened, scared, and wondering if they still are employed. You are saving yourself Erik. Not joining a monastery. Being angry, upset, bored, and whatever else is part of the deal here. You may need to find something to fill the free time that you now have. No? F'ng hating this will only put you right back in one of those really really scary places, and maybe next time it will be your last time, ya know?

Drinking to "get girls" is beta male epic fail. At least that's what it says in my latest edition of the man-book. :-)

It's more the root issue of not knowing how to socialize without drinking since it has been the nexus of my social life for my entire adult life... Oh well... Netflix and diet Pepsi are going to have to do for tonight

There are two great French crime dramas, Spiral and Braquo, and the (original) Danish version of The Killing.

European crime drama is head and shoulders above anything produced here in the States...there is simply no comparison.

If you like any of the various flavors of Law & Order or CSI, they'll be unwatchable for virtually anyone who follows European crime series.

Oh yeah, the (original) Danish/Swedish version of The Bridge.
