a downer, but important

One year ago tonight, a friend of ours went out to celebrate the winter solstice. She partied so hard that she did not wake up, choked on her vomit in her sleep. I know this is a downer, sorry. But perhaps it could help some one. That could have been me. That could have been many of us. I don't want that to be me, I don't want that to be ANYONE. Stay strong, everyone. Take a deep breath. Feel that? It's frickin' life, and it is so much better sober. Peace.

Sad, but a good reminder that our sobriety is life or death. I have seen people pass away from this disease, especially one in particular that I went to treatment with that hits home and who I've been thinking about a lot this holiday. Alcohol is not something to mess with. Eventually, it's takes you down...
