Hello Everyone
Hello, first post here!
I am a 10 year addict who is currently on Suboxone for the past 5 months.
I was taking prescription pills for about 7 years, got sober for a period of around 6 months and relapsed hard!
I finally woke up one morning and not only realized what I was doing to those around me but what I was doing to myself and said enough is enough!
I began Suboxone 5 months ago and wish I would have started it years earlier! It has changed the way I think of my addiction and my recovery. I do worry about the issue of trading one addiction for another, but will cross that bridge when we get to it (my doctor reminds me of this every couple visits!).

Welcome, u think you'll ever wean from the suboxone?
I think suboxone is great actually, i was on methadone for 4 years at one time a long while ago and though it was not the answer to recovery as I believe recovery is an inside job, it definitely gave me back somewhat of a life.
Until I started abusing benzos along with it, quit cold turkey and had a seizure.
The whole experience screwed me up royally. Delusional in the psych ward for 32 days. Glad that is over. It was a long recovery for me coming back from that.
If your watching out there..
Never quit benzos cold turkey!

Thank you for the welcome everyone!
Deeker: As for weaning from Suboxone - right now there is no end date in sight, although i anticipate being on it for at least the next 5 years (my doctor said to plan to be on it 1/2 the time I was on opiates). I would like to wean but do not feel like now is the time but it is in my thoughts!

Good on you Muropie and good for you for getting medical support. I know nothing about your addiction (alcohol was my drug of choice) but I think you'll get there by making such good choices to start with. SR is a great support.
