And I have zero desire to drink any. A coworker gave me a bottle of Merlot as a Christmas gift, as he has done for the past few years, and I didn't want to make him feel bad. Normally I would just give it away, but seeing as I am hosting dinner on Christmas, I had planned to buy a small bottle if red to have on hand, so decided to keep it. Saves me some money.

I though about it, and although I don't keep alcohol in the house typically, I feel comfortable in me sobriety to have it here the next few days. I just simply have no interest in drinking it, and ruining all the wonderful ways my life has changed.

My wife has wine in the house and at the moment I don't have a desire to have a glass. Sometimes I open the fridge and pause briefly when see the wine. I'd prefer it wasn't there but maybe it will make me tougher while I going through this. Cravings can be sudden and powerful.

I'm the same. I actually bought a bottle for my kids to have with their Xmas dinner today. I just stuck it in a cupboard like it was any other grocery item. It is a great feeling and I wish those in early recovery would know that it does come. It does help to know this. xx

I had a similar experience today.

As they say, it's the thought that counts, so I said a sincere thank you.

Kind of like getting a really hideous sweater that you will never wear, ever, under any circumstances. Oh well....

I quit almost 14 months ago. Wine was my drug of choice, really loved the stuff. Now that I'm sober I still buy wine pretty routinely to cook with but not in large amounts. I get a small bottle if I can, and if not something with a screw top. There really isn't much desire in me to drink it aside from that abstract fantasy element. As a chef it would be hard to imagine cooking without wine.

If it doesn't trigger cravings, cook with it. But probably best not to keep it around long term. If it needs dusting it has worn out its welcome!:lmao
