Newbie
We've all been newbies at one time or another. Sometimes even when we aren't, we still feel like it. But to answer your question, I'm one. I have 16 days. Newbie or not, there are friends all over the place here. Welcome to SR!
Newbies are along all the time. Great you found us. I found joining the daily thread for the month invaluable. It is generally where the newbies check in with each other. The thread can be found on the menu for newcomers

Do you have a local support network? Read your doc in on exactly how much you drink so he/she can help if needed or proactively? Counseling? AA? For me it took a 7 day in hospital detox to get past the first three days of detox safely, and all of the above, but that is what it took for me to make it to sobriety. I made it. Do whatever it takes and you'll be fine. If there are things you would rather drink than do to stop, you are in for a world of frustration. I had that frustration every day for the last two of ten years of too much daily. Then I decided to stop getting ready and start getting to it, no holds barred, no program or method too embarrassing, no fear gonna prevail.

It seems pretty overwhelming the first few days, all you have to think of is not picking up today. Amazingly with each day that, that happens I start to feel stronger, clearer, better about myself. I have found signing in the 24hr club is helping as well.it really does get better. Welcome to SR.
