HELP Married to an Addict/Alcoholic

My husband was always a drinker. I guess I was blinded to it until it started to really effect our family life. I told him to leave until he was willing to stop. He did, but I was unaware that he had just replaced it with pills. A week ago I found out how bad he was, he quit cold turkey and had a rough time. As he got past the "detox" I found him being unfaithful on his phone. He says he ended it along with the drugs. I do not know how to feel. I am lost. I can not sleep. I don't know anything other than I love him. I am not sure that is enough. I have to think about my kids (3 under 10) and myself. What do I do just to breath? Sleep? When does this get better, if ever?

Hi Stacie :)

I'm sorry for your situation but I'm glad you found us.

I think only you can make up your mind as to how much you can stand and whether there's a viable future in your marriage, but you'll find a lot of support and experience here, and in our Friends and Family forums to help you decide :)

Welcome to SR! The choice is up to you as to how much more of this you can stand. I'd think of you and your kids' well being and how the family life is affecting them. Kids who grow up in alcoholic homes often turn out the same way because they think it's normal behavior.:(
