At what age does it end??
 

I have just hit 27 and i really feel its now or never, i sometimes wish i had come to my senses sooner. When did u guys and girls finally kick this demon? Of course we never really "kick it " because its a lifelong battle but at what age did u think "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH" ? The only reason i ask is because i feel like i have wasted the last 5 years and am getting realy depressed .. thanx again xxx

even went to some AA meetings back then
but
still went on suffering for almost 40 more years

I quit around 40.

I thought I'd wasted years too, but the amount of stuff I've done in the last 7 sober years has made me feel better about that - we cant change yesterday - it's done and gone...but we can do a heck of a lot in our today Brad :)

it ends when you decide it does, and you make the effort necessary to back that decision up :)

Yep, I quit for 5 years when I was 25, then drank until 46-days ago (age 48 today). Yes, I wish I had stayed the course. But as Dee says, yesterday is written and done, we only have this moment forward, and I'm grateful.

It ends whenever you choose. The fact that you are here and asking at 27 is fantastic in my opinion. When I was in my 20s drinking still didn't cause enough problems to make quitting even show as a blip on the radar. Looking back I would have loved to have had the foresight you do.

At 39 , 3 days ago. 20 year career for me. I would say only about 2-3 years was kind of fun, that was in the beginning. Then my truck rolled down the mountain fast. Last 6 years was a constant internal battle between right and wrong. My angels against my deamons.

I quit drinking 14 months ago. I was 26.

This year I turned 30!! . . . it was time for a change!! :)

I beat it in my early thirties, then twenty years later fell back into it and didn't escape for three years. That was four years ago. :)

I never considered quitting alcohol until last year when I turned 49 because that's when the damage started showing.

I remember going to AA in my late 20's and so many people telling me how lucky I was to have found sobriety early. I then made the mistake after 1.5 years to have a drink....that was over 5 years ago and now I'm back on Day 3. From what I recall, after the 90 day mark it got easier as not drinking became the norm for me and those around me also adjusted to me not drinking. However, I foolishly let my guard down over a year later and wasted another 5 years. It won't get better and you will reach new lows if you don't stop now. Trust me :(.

Quit in my 40's for 3 yrs. Back at it until my early 50's when I found SR. In my 20's it never occurred to me to try and live without it. Bradley be thankful you are taking action now. You'll never have the regrets many of us have.
