At what age does it end??

Quit at 27. Returned shortly there after. Then at 29, remained sober for a year. On and off for the last 4 years. Always knew that I was an alcoholic. Always. 9 months sober now. The only way of returning to drinking is if we allow ourselves to return. It is scary and it should be. Somehow we can forget the hell that we lived. Somehow we tuck the damage away and think "Maybe it was not that bad"...... It was. Always will be. Being an alcoholic and in recovery is a blessing in my life. Living in active alcoholism is pure torture. The ride stops when we get off.

I'm another 43—looks like we have enough to form a basketball team.... all of us with the same number on our jerseys. We could call ourselves the Harlem Sobertrotters...

28. First came here when I was 25 but it didn't stick. Still hadn't hit rock bottom at that point. Eye opener this time was going to write an apology email and finding almost exactly the same draft from three years ago...
