Hi Munky

You posted in our Daily Support Forum which is only for the continuation of existing threads.

I moved your post to the main Newcomers forum for more feedback, and merged your other thread...

but you need to give us some info to work from

what do you need help with?

OK. You'll find a lot of support here - most of us have been where you are now

It all starts with a day one basically - a decision not to drink today.

How long have you been drinking for?

If you've been drinking hard for a long time it's a good idea to see a Dr as detox can be tough for some of us.

If you want face to face support I can give you links to recovery groups like AA etc

yeah me too - get a Drs input if you can swing it, Munky (no pun intended).

There are a lot of free or low cost clinics around - if there's one in your local area you might get some medical advice there?

Free/Low-Cost/Sliding-Scale Clinics
The 10377 clinics in this database are free, low cost, low cost with a sliding scale based on income, or offer some type of financial assistance.
2-1-1 Call Center Search

2-1-1 provides free and confidential information and referral. Call 2-1-1 for help with food, housing, employment, health care, counseling and more. Learn more about your local 2-1-1 by looking it up here.
keep posting here too - there's always someone around for support.

glad you've joined us

Hi Munky-
We're all here to support each other. Getting sober can be hard work but it sure has a lot of benefits. Talking with your doctor is a good place to start, I got checked out for lots of stuff, not just alcohol related and it felt good knowing that I was in pretty good shape. I asked him lots of questions and had lots of tests done even the embarrassing ones and it sure felt good putting some worries to rest. Share as much or as little as you like. Thats what SR is all about.

Well, I think talking about it definitely helps munkey, when you are ready.

Reading around here helps a lot too. There is great info here and great people too!!!

Posting your story, your questions, concerns, struggles, and successes will help too! People will respond, I promise!

Have you considered going to the Dr for some help too??? Detoxing can be dangerous and your well being is of utmost importance!!!

My last self-detox would have scared the **** out of Hunter S. Thompson.

This one will be worse.
