Hey I just joined yesterday. Just posting to introduce myself. I joined to use this as another way of taking action to recovery and maybe be of help to others. I am active in attending AA mtgs and working the 12 steps . I struggle with thinking I can drink like a "normal" drinker and with step one . So I go a few weeks without drinking then I think I am cool and start drinking again....but now it's all done without anyone knowing ( except myself) . Then eventually I get find out . I am tired of this pattern and I want to stop all together.. So here I am..
Welcome!!! That same thing is what led me to my slip a few weeks ago, but since then I have NO RESERVATIONS any longer that I can drink normally (normal drinkers don't black out and crawl in the street ;-)
Keep coming and keep going to AA. I LOVE meetings and go to as many as I can.

Hi, Champ. Welcome to SR. The people here are extremely knowledgeable and supportive. They have helped me stay sober for longer than I have ever been sober in my life.
Good luck. I am glad you are here with us.

I substituted alcohol for heroin. I rationalize my drinking by believing that since I'm not shooting up heroin, that drinking is perfectly okay. WRONG! That thinking lead me to binge drinking and blackouts. So here I am, on day 4, and getting a grip on the fact that I'm addicted to EVERYTHING. These rooms very well could save my life. The information and support is amazing

Hi Champ and welcome. I suffered for too long trying to sober up with going to meetings but only half listened and wanted to drink more than I wanted to stop drinking and things, (me) got worse. fortunately I did hear one thing that was very important, KEEP COMING which saved my butt. I was lucky and finally accepted the fact that I couldn't drink in safety and things got much better.
