day 2

well its day 2 for me, and although I slipped up last night and had 1 beer last night, im still gonna push forward, 1 is way better than staying up til 3am and waking up hungover, The shaking hasn't gotten that bad yet but the nightmares do suck.

Right now I just feel motivated to keep pushing on, it was about this time last year when my now ex fiancée cheated on me and left for another guy saying I would never amount to anything else than an alcoholic.

Stay strong, Buddy! You can do this!

Good going. Don't beat yourself up about the one beer. It didn't turn into a full relapse luckily (I could never have managed that.) Onward and upward :)

Sorry to hear about your ex. Don't let her define who you are. I'm on Day 1. I don't have many words of wisdom on sobriety except to take it one day at a time.

Keep pushing through!! :)

So glad to hear it was just one beer. You can beat this if you really want to. Keep reading on here and you will find many stories from people who are and who have beaten alcohol. Why don't you beat it ,prove a few people wrong ,shove it up their you know what and give yourself the life you deserve. Good luck

Atleast you had enough will and control to stop at that 1 beer. Keep it up.

Welcome to SR Zach :)
Do you have a plan to help you stay sober?

Right now I really don't have a plan, ive made it about 36 hours with only 1 beer and im gonna keep pushing forward, I want to prove to myself that I am more than "just a drunk" like my ex always told me. I wanna beat this at my age instead of having a lifelong drinking problem like many people in my family have had.

Dee74 12-02-2013 02:45 PM

I'm a firm believer in plans.

I went in so many times just vowing to try harder...yet I never seemed prepared for the various things that can come up to challenge us or trip us up.

I really recommend you think about some of the things that have tripped you up the past and think about how you could have handled them better.

Find more support too - the more support you have the easier the rough times will be....and be prepared to make whatever changes you need to make in your life to stay sober.

Thinking about all these things now can save you being ambushed later :)
