I think I'm similar to quite of the lot of the female posters - and i'm a guy! Because I stopped smoking and stopped drinking at the same time, I bought things that smell nice - perfumes for the house and the bathroom, some new soap and aftershave. I also took most of my coats to the cleaner and asked them to repair any broken buttons. I don't think repairing damage is necessarily a reward as such, but it does feel great.

Oh yeah, I reward myself as well. Little things like cups of tea and time playing a game on my computer. But Dee is right, sobriety itself does get to be a real treat.

I love this thread, too! It's inspiring to read about all the things we do for ourselves in recovery. We deserve to be good to ourselves.

I treat myself with my newfound addiction - nail polish! I have almost 100 bottles now (lost count at 85) of every color under the sun. It's impossible to do decent nail art while drinking!

I also have my flavored coffees and flavored creamers - yummy! As a bonus, the coffee seems to nix any alcohol cravings.

How does one make sobriety a reward?

I am jealous.

For me, it is not about making not drinking a reward, imabuleva. It is about celebrating me. Learning how to be the best me I can be for myself.

For me it's waking up in the morning without a hangover and refreshed. Then looking in the mirror happy with what I see looking back at me.

Yep! For my one month mark, I just bought myself a nice new underwear wardrobe. ;-). I've been doing my nails a lot and doing lots of home facials, too. And super fancy teas.

being sober is a reward in itself.
with the path of destruction i left for the 23ish years i drank, its too selfish of me to reward myself with anything more than that.
