Justone - at day 10 you're through the physical withdrawals - do you want to have to go through them again? Is it worth it? Can you not go for a walk, take some time to unwind from it all? You'll be SO thankful in the morning - no hangover, no possible dramas./embarrassing scenes to get over etc.
You can do this and well done for signing in!!!

JustOne tomorrow morning you are going to reap one of the great joys of sobriety -- no hangover! You will feel fabulous because you won't have a hangover and you will feel more fabulous because you didn't let AV make your decisions for you.

The fact your not drinking is an achievement, the fact you've already gone 10 days is an achievement, you can do this, you can persevere, think of waking up tomorrow monring fresh, you can be that person!!

I've gone up to my room and am sitting in the freaking dark by myself. I am not thinking of hangovers or withdrawal. I'm thinking of beer or wine. Like everyone else is doing. Sorry. And thanks for the encouragement. But this just blows. I'm not me without a few drinks at a party when others Are partaking. Especially at my house. And this will go on all damned weekend.

You're under a lot of pressure - is there a co-host, can you take a walk for a break at least?

I don't think you want it really , you're here posting and you know where drinking leads, think the drink through right through till the end of the hangover , shame , embarrassment , sickness , …

slip out the house leave the drinkers to it , they won't notice much , go for a drive to buy peanuts , anything , cravings don't last that long , keep your eye on the sober goal ,

Stick with it ,

Bestwishes, m

It is tough and that is a really crap situation you're in. Remember why you did this. It wouldn't be just one beer, would it? And if you are anything like me ona holiday, it wouldn't be just a 12 pack either..... But man, the next day. The headache, the self loathing.

You're doing great! Just remember why you're here.

I know it's really REALLY hellish to go through If you can just get through this though, you're going to feel SOOO amazing!! The buzz from that, will far outdo anything that pouring flammable liquid down your throat is going to do How will your family react if you cave in? Are they aware that you've quit? Xx

Hi JustOne.

I won't lie to you - being around drinkers on day 10 would blow. Big Time.
The timing is unfortunate. You have us tho

The longer you stay sober the more you'll see that fun does not equal drinking.
In fact you'll probably find you have a low tolerance for drunks.

You'll find out what real fun and real joy is all about - I promise.

Just - get through today - have faith you're on the right road for you.
It gets easier

Yeah, have a good look at these people who are 'having fun' - concentrate on how they start slurring words and talking absolute BS after a while

Thanks. I don't feel that way. I hate the hangover/shaking etc. but I won't embarrass myself. I'll have a bunch of drinks and join in. Only my wife knows. She's thrilled. I'm not.

I hate it that I cannot drink like everyone, mine is excessive to the point I blacked out, with major misgivings the next morning. Hang in there JustOne, my husband left me before I took stock of my drinking, ok he's back now but sounds you've got some good support with your wife and were always here on SR.

Ten days is so early in. Get thru this weekend and I promise it will get better. Dee is right. Having fun does not have to include alcohol. I have fun and I'm four years sober. Have patience.

Last year I was so freakin hung over on Thanksgiving Day I thought I was going to die. Today was one million times better...and I have only been sober a few months. There is always going to be a party, the Superbowl, a birthday, the Fourth of July, a BBQ, a wedding....

The early days are definitely the worst. I have had a few wisps today, but mostly because I waited too long to eat, was getting a little tired. It can be rough sledding and you on definitely on that hill, at the very beginning, but you are already on your way, don't give back that good start out of the gate. Today will end, you are making the choice now to protect something very important to you.

Sending sober cyber energy (lord did I just really say that?)....you rock!
