You can do it! Use this bottom as your inspiration to stay sober. On Monday I did something awful while drunk and I'm holding onto that memory for dear life. Especially with all the holiday stuff going on.

There is no law saying you have to talk at these meetings. You can share or not share. That is totally up to you! Sometimes just going there and listening you realize that others are feeling the same way you are and you won't feel so alone. It's just a way of connecting to others.

It says its an open meeting, a 'topic' meeting. What's a topic meeting?

An open meeting is where it's not just alcoholics that are there, but family etc can attend. I assume a 'topic' meeting is that the talk is all about chosen theme/topic? I'm not an AA person, so only going by what I've read around SR Xx

You don't have to talk and you need not say anything you don't want to say. Just be with them and, if you wish, ask them for their help to keep you from drinking. And don't be spooked if there are a few suggestions that make you feel uncomfortable. Nothing's perfect. Not everyone at every meeting is perfect. Nonetheless there's all manner of good stuff and good experience at many meetings. Good luck.

This community care about you before I started my thanksgiving cooking I had to check on you! We are all here for you. NEF's flowers have magical powers, they pulled me out if my funk a few days ago. I may be burning out this saying but it's been a great helper for me when I'm down.

" it can't rain forever.... The sun always comes out"
Please let us know how you're doing and how the meeting went!
Hugs

Hi animalnurse,

All of us here have been through it and we understand. The same will be true for the people at the meeting. For everything we did that we thought would surprise others we learned that they aren't any different. We're all in this together!

We understand how you're feeling right now and the depth of that feeling. Try to turn it around and instead of beating yourself up about it look at it as what you needed to finally find the beginning of success on your journey. We all have our defining moments and it sounds like you've found yours. I see that as a very positive thing! Look forward, not backward.

A topic meeting is where that meeting chair chooses a topic as a suggestion for what people share about. It is only a suggestion and any newcomer at a meeting is more important than the topic.

I hope you go and let them know you are new. They will be very happy to welcome you.

I know you are feeling low. If no one tells you they love you today, I do.
