Hello to all!

I'm new to the site and super new to recovery. I have recently relapsed and need all the help I can get. Alcohol is my preferred drug. :a108:

Welcome to SR!! This place is a sanctuary ;-)

Thank you all! I was sober for the summer, went on a vacation, had a drink, then another, which led to, you guessed it: right back to daily drinking. Today I am back to one day sober. I am happy for the day, but I am so physically ill.

If you are like me, 1 is too many, 24 is not enough.

Glad you are working hard at sobriety

Welcome Owlie :)

This place helped me turn my life around - I know we can help you do the same :)

Have you got a plan at all?

D

Owllie11 11-26-2013 03:20 PM

I haven't got a plan yet, but I am already grateful for this site. I'm hoping the shakeness and nausea end by tonight, so I can thinking clearly again. Miserable, but hopefully that I'm going to remember the pain and begin the journey again.

Very happy to meet you Owllie! I think you'll find it really helpful to be here with us. We all understand what you're going through.

I did the same thing many times - got sober & thought I could use willpower to 'have a few' now and then. It always led me back to the same old place. It feels so good to be free. You can do it. :)

Hi Owlie and welcome! I found what helps me now that I am a week in, is reading what I wrote about how I was feeling the last night I was drunk, and the first couple of days being sober. The last night drinking I talked to myself because I knew I would start feeling better, and think I could drink again. I have been reading that bit of text several times a day so I never forget where I will end up once I have even one drink, and then I read the next few days texts getting sober and I sooo remember why I don't pick up a drink.

I think we have all been quit for a bit of time and feeling good, and have a casual drink, and after osme time we are right back where we fought so hard to get away from.

Hang tight with us, I am only a week in, but this site has made a huge difference for me.
